My fans on my OMEN by HP Gaming Laptop 16-xf0xxx do not turn on while under load.
The Fans do work under my dual-booted Windows install. They also work in BIOS. This is not a hardware problem
Btop shows my gpu and cpu are both working
Kernel:
Linux 6.12.4-zen1-1-zenCPU:
AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS w/ Radeon 780M GraphicsGPU1 (discrete):
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Max-Q / MobileGPU2 (integrated):

Turning "Fan Always On" to "On" in BIOS
This only spins the fans at a very low rpm and is a setting I currently have on because some fans are better than none
Note: There are no other fan settings in BIOS
Changing fan settings in windows
This is not persistent across operating systems
Trying the python script here
This script does not support my laptop, it says so.
Testing on a Live USB (debian)
This yielded no differences compared to my arch linux install, the fans did not turn on
This is my first time posting on the Arch Linux Forums. If I have made a mistake please correct me
Any help is appreciated
acpi is installed
xsensors reports the same data as sensors
downgrading my kernel to before the issue did not help

Hello ,Quirrel
I am currently having the same issue as you,
acpitz-acpi-0
Adapter: ACPI interface
temp1: +28.0°C
temp2: +20.0°C
temp3: -273.2°C
I have noticed that one of the acpi temps is at absolute zero,
does that have anything to do with the fans?
Furthermore I would like to ask if you have made any progress regarding this issue on your own?
Best Regards,
