Hello everyone,
I'm an Arch Linux user with KDE, daily updated.
Some system information:
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.24.0
Qt Version: 6.11.0
Kernel Version: 6.19.10-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Display manager: Plasma Login Manager
A few days ago I noticed that my computer no longer enters sleep mode automatically.
If I trigger the standby manually, it works perfectly, and - if activated - the system resumes without any issues.
After some investigation, I noticed two things:
In System preferences > Energy Saving (I use KDE in Italian and don't know the exact English terms), Suspend and Hibernate options are missing from the menu "If inactive".
In addition, the buttons for hibernate, suspend, restart, and shutdown are missing in the KDE menu. I use Application Dashboard, but even the standard Application Launcher shows the same problem.
I found two alternative workarounds for this, which work for the current session (if I reboot the problem comes back).
The first is to logout from the current session and relogin: both problems disappear for the current session. The computer will regularly go in suspend mode and also the options in the System Settings > Energy Saving come back.
The second is to open the terminal and issue these two commands:
$ systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell # this makes the icons in the application launcher reappear$ systemctl --user restart plasma-powerdevil # this makes options in the system settings reappearWhy does this happen?
Have you ever heard anything about this behavior?
Does it depend on the new Plasma Login Manager? (btw, I have uninstalled SDDM as explained in the ArchWiki [1])
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have disabled plasma-login-manager (it's a dependency of plama-meta) and reinstalled sddm, but the situation is the same.
In addition, I am seeing that I have a lot of errors in the journal: I don't know if they have to do with the problem of this post.

I just restarted the computer and currently it doesn't show any restart/suspend/shutdown button in the application launcher, as explained in the first post.
At this moment I do not have applied any of the alternative workarounds explained there.
But if I press CTRL+ALT+CANC, a fullscreen menu appears with all the possible actions (suspend, hibernate, etc.), asking me what to do. If I press the Restart icon, the computer restarts.

I have temporarily resolved the issue by delaying these two services:
systemctl --user edit plasma-powerdevil.servicesystemctl --user edit plasma-plasmashell.serviceAdding the following content to both:
[Service]
ExecStartPre=/usr/bin/sleep 5Then I rebooted the system.
The first delay makes the power management options reappear in the System Settings > Power Management > If inactive menu.
The second makes the shutdown/reboot/etc buttons reappear in the applications menu.
To remove these two delays in the future, issue this command:
systemctl --user revert plasma-powerdevil.service plasma-plasmashell.serviceThis command will remove the two directories ~/.config/systemd/user/plasma-plasmashell.service.d and ~/.config/systemd/user/plasma-powerdevil.service.d created by the first two commands.
I'm going to mark this thread as [SOLVED], even though this feels more like a workaround than a definitive fix.
