hyprclt addreserved syntax error

hyprctl monitors

shows...

.
.
Monitor DVI-I-1 (ID 0):
.
.
hyprctl eval monitor "DVI-I-1, addreserved, 0, 0, 0, 0"

produces...

error: [string "monitor DVI-I-1, addreserved, 0, 0, 0, 0"]:1: syntax error near 'DVI'

What am I missing?

Backward compatibility is for the masses. There's no dual-boot here.

Re: hyprclt addreserved syntax error

The wiki links are helpful, but it would be nice to point out the actual syntax issue too. I think addreserved needs to be used through the correct Hyprland configuration syntax rather than passed as a monitor argument to hyprctl eval. That distinction might save others some troubleshooting.

Re: hyprclt addreserved syntax error

Hand-holding is not the way of the Arch forums.

The hyprland wiki explicitly states eval takes a lua string.

How to form said string is explicitly exampled in the 2nd wiki link.

There is no "Hyprland configuration syntax" distinction to be made, as hyprlang is now fully deprecated.
