simple-scan: only first page shown wiht ADF scan

Hello,

I use the ADF most of the times for scanning with simple-scan. When I insert multiple pages, I only see the first page in the simple-scan window. All pages are read, but not shown. Setting is "all pages from ADF". This worked as it should some years(?) ago.
Scanner is a Brother MFC-J4340DW, connected via WiFi.

Is this a (known?) bug or a config error?

Looks like a protocol issue:

I installed naps2 from AUR and tried with SANE and ESCL driver: ESCL works as expected, with SANE only the first page is shown like in simple-scan.
