pinentry-gnome3 is depricated?

Sorry for posting if not required.
In my Arch + sway, pinentry-gnome3 does not work anymore.
pinentry-gtk and pinentry-qt are working well.

Via dependency on https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/gcr/ while gnome has moved to https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/gcr-4/ which now also provides the ssh agent.
I'd not be surprised if the gkr interface broke, but what does "not work anymore" mean specifically?
If you run 

echo GETPIN | pinentry-gnome3

do you get a password dialog and entering "foo" prints "D foo" ?
