Font Family option in Krita's Text Tool is broken

In the new krita package, when using the text tool, I cannot change the font family in the Text Properties panel. The font dropdown doesn't load correctly and shows no fonts, and typing in the names of the fonts doesn't load them either.

This is a problem I am experiencing specifically with the version of Krita 6.0 packaged in arch, and not on either of the official Krita appimages, whether it is 5.3 or 6.0.
Strangely, when opening a Krita file that already has text with fonts (whether it was created in an older Krita version or the new Krita appimages), any text created with existing fonts does load properly, shows up as the correct font in the panel, and more text can be created with that same font. Additionally, the custom interface font in the settings seems to work correctly.

There does seem to be some additional information in the logs.

Strangely, I encounter the first issue with the appimage version on the Krita website, and the second issue with the krita package, even though supposedly they are both built against the 6.0 tag. Maybe they're both caused by the same bug and will be fixed in the next release.

I thought about putting up an issue on Arch's tracker, but given arojas' stance on the matter of not going to provide 5.3, I decided to drop it.
