Keyboard layout changes to default when Start Menu is triggered

Hi

I just installed fcitx5 in KDE in order to use the unicode characters and this works fine. In 'Input Methods Settings', I added Canadian French layout along with US English. However, I noticed that when I select the French Layout in the system tray, and then press the Meta key, which triggers the start menu, the layout changed to English. I asked Gemini and it suggested me to disable the option 'Allow Overriding XKB Settings'  (In Waylandd/XCB) in 'Input Method Settings' -> 'Configure addonds'. I disabled both options and then log out and log in again. But this unfortunately does not solved my issue. I also noticed that the 'Ctrl-Space' shortcut used to toggle keyboard layout only works when a window has a focus.

Any comment or suggestion is welome.
Thanks in advance.

How's fcitx5 started?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Fcitx5#KDE_Plasma

The meta key always turns the layout English, it doesn't act as a toggle?

In Settings -> Keyboard -> Virtual Keybord, I selected Fcitx5.

Did you make sure to disable the autostart service?
