How feasible is installing legacy Nvidia 340 drivers for a noob

I previously used Arch (btw) and it ran flawlessly on an old laptop some years ago.

I now want to move from Ubuntu 24.04 due to massive screen tearing (and other crash-causing issues) because Nvidia340 no longer works with the kernel used bu 24.04LTS. All the ubuntu-based fixes don't work on my machine.

On my Arch install (wiki-style using LXqt as the DE) graphical performance with nuvous is terrible (I use 3D print slicers and things which like hardware rendering).

I see the 340 packages in [the AUR](https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/nvidia-340xx), and they look like they work for kernel 7.2 (i'm on 7.2.3) - based on a recent post there in the comments "i belive you can digg what you need to update this puppy".

However, I don't even know where to start with building and installing this on my (Arch) system. I don't want to follow AI or some random tutorial from the internet. Is there anywhere this process is explained properly at a noob-ish level.

It should be relatively simple by installing nvidia-340xx-dkms from the AUR according to the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA

nb. the puppy comment is ~2 weeks after the latest package update; you might want to try the LTS kernel for the time being.
