kde plasma: locking the screen causes user to not be able to login

recently (last two weeks maybe?) when I lock the device, then when I try to re login to locked device, after entering password and clicking enter the lock screen fades away (so no error) but then reappears as locked screen again.

when I try it too many time I get a big screen prompt that tells me that screen lock is broken and for me to switch to another virtual tty and then loginctl unlock-session 1 to unlock and switch back.

Re: kde plasma: locking the screen causes user to not be able to login

Have you checked whether it logs any PAM errors to the journal?
Do you lock the screen based on inactivity? (Might be some timer going rogue or general bug about clearing the inactivity state/input handling)

no.
all the way screen locks are affected.
closing the lid or locking manually from tray icon.
sometimes the bug is not there but that is the exception.
I checked the logged and the only pam error I see are for old  "temporarily locked out due to 3 consecutive failed" that are for other days.

Re: kde plasma: locking the screen causes user to not be able to login

Not how the igniting lock was triggered but whether you've generally setup the system (check powerdevil settings) to lock on idle.

the usual
turn screen off after 5 minute and lock imidiately.

is there a config that I can show here instead of reading from kde power setting GUI?

Re: kde plasma: locking the screen causes user to not be able to login

The idea would be to disable that and see whether it's causing the re-locks.

I disabled the screen off after 5 minutes and it didn't help.

Re: kde plasma: locking the screen causes user to not be able to login

So what's in the journal when this happens (as irrelevant as it might seem) - the main question is whether you actually fail to unlock the session or it re-locks immediately.

Re: kde plasma: locking the screen causes user to not be able to login

Did you apply some bogus sed filter of copy-paste it from an editor that struggles w/ bidirectional text?

Ict whether it's relevant from that, but

laptop kded6[806]: There are no outputs - creating placeholder screen
laptop kdeconnectd[1114]: There are no outputs - creating placeholder screen

looks like you're using the output - either to DPMS or lact

I'd start by disabling the latter.

There's also

laptop xdg-desktop-portal-kde[1240]: There are no outputs - creating placeholder screen
laptop lact[1814]: 2026-10-27T15:14:45.783719Z INFO lact_daemon: got kernel drm subsystem event, queueing GPU reload
laptop kwin_wayland[801]: Greeter Process encountered an unhandled error: QProcess::Crashed . Detailed error: "پردازش خراب\u200C شد"
laptop kwin_wayland[801]: Greeter process exit unregular. Restarting lock.

first part I dont thing so. i killed it and still have the bug.

it is shown for firefox and others and I remove those linest so that log can be read.

and the error happens with empty session too.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Core_d … _core_dump
Otherwise please post your complete system journal for an affected boot, eg

sudo journalctl -b | nc termbin.com 9999
